author notes: Adrienne is Charlie's daughter that was the result of the Susan Berry fling (You would have to read my Chaos and Comfort series to hear more...Im not 4 fanfic spoilers...)
Avril is Larry and Megan's adopted daughter

Numb3rs: B is for Boyfriend?
In a downtown LA home. 52yr old Don Eppes walked through his living room counting his kids. It was an unintentional habit he picked up after being a father. "...1,2,3,4,5,6...One's missing . . . " Don thought . . .
He walked out of the living room and up the stairs and into the bedroom. Liz was sitting at the desk.
"Liz where's Lauren?" Don asked.
"Out with Kyle and their friends." Liz said.
"Who's Kyle?" Don asked in his "interrogation voice."
"Her boyfriend . . . He's a nice kid. " Liz answered.
"Boyfriend? Are we still talking about our 13-year-old daughter?" Don said.
"Yeah . . . Oh come on you can't tell me you didn't have a girlfriend at 13?" Liz said.
"As a matter of fact I did. And that's why she isn't dating til she hits 30." Don said.
Liz laughed. "Yeah right . . . anyway . . . he's been her boyfriend for three weeks."
"Boyfriend?" Don apparently still wasn't grasping the concept.
"Don honey...Go take a shower please...I have to make dinner and take Samuel to get tutored by your brother..and then 2 of our sons have to go to a baseball game...so if you could hurry it'd be nice." Liz smiled.
"Boyfriend?" Don asked yet another time as he went into the bathroom.
Liz rolled her eyes. Lauren had just came in the house. She ran up the stairs.
"Hey mom...What's up?" Lauren asked walking into Liz and Don's bed room.
"Nothing...And something you might wanna know before you talk to your dad again is that I told him about Kyle..." Liz said.
"Oh....I see...well I guess I should leave then..." Lauren slowly backed up toward the door.
"Oh don't worry...I made him get in the shower when I heard Adie's car pull up..." Liz said.
"Good..." Lauren laughed.
"You gonna ride to the game with us?" Liz asked.
"No...I just ran in to get my jacket...Adie and me are riding there to the stadium. We'll be kinda late though...We gotta ride to Glendale to get Avril from her cousins house." Lauren said.
"Ok...I guess we'll see you there..." Liz said.
"Yeah...just make sure dad sits as far away from me as possible..." Lauren giggled nervously.
"That I can do..." Liz said as she heard Adrienne honk the car horn.
"Gotta go...Bye!" Lauren said running down the stairs.

At the baseball game Don and his crew nearly took up half a row in the little league stadium. Jonas Eppes was up to bat. He enjoys baseball as much if not more than his father does and is very good at it. He was just about to swing when Lauren, Adrienne and Avril sat down, they were running late. Don looked at Lauren.
"Hey! Mom told me about your..."
"Boyfriend?"
"Um Yeah. Is he treating you good?"
"Yeah dad he is. Besides we only go out with friends on group dates and the only no group date we've had was when we had dinner with his parents. So no worries dad."Lauren said.
‘She may only be thirteen but she looks and acts like Liz did at twenty-seven.'Don thought.
‘She's my baby girl and now she has a...boyfriend?"Don thought as his son Jonas hit a home run very early in the night...

Epilogue:
three days later. Don was parked outside of Kyle Saxon's house. He was driving him and Lauren to Pizza Hut. Kyle ran out of the house and opened the truck's backseat door.
"Lauren! Hi! How's it going?!" Kyle was excited up until he saw that Liz wasn't the one driving them to the Pizza place.
"Your Mr. Eppes right?" Kyle swallowed hard. He was suddenly in fear of his short lived life.
"Yeah that's me..." Don said with no lightness in his tone of voice.
"So where am I driving you two?" Don asked with suspicion in his voice.
He knew where he was taking them he just wanted to make sure that Kyle didn't have any ulterior motives.
"To the Pizza Hut next to the mall."Kyle answered. The boy seemed nice but Don wasn't sure if it was respect or fear that made him so polite.
"Crap! Dad I forgot my purse and we were going to split the cost."Lauren said.
"Have no fear young one. The house is on the way to the restaurant so you can run in and get it."Don said.
Lauren nodded in affirmation.
Don drove to the house and Lauren ran out to get her purse.
"So Kyle. How old are you? Do you drink? Do you smoke? "Don asked in his interrogation tone.
"I was born August sixteenth, 2009. I'm almost fourteen. No, I don't smoke or drink I'm too young. Why do you ask?"Kyle said. He was intimidated by Don.
"I'm the one asking the questions. Now how long have you known my daughter? And does anyone in your family have a criminal record?"Don continued his interrogation.
"We met at school, and my dad's a third generation cop and my mom is a judge. No crimes in our family that I'm aware of other than a few parking violations and some littering fines."Kyle said matter-of-factly.
Lauren ran into the car.
"Okay I found it." She said buckling her at seat belt.
"Okay you guys can go to the laser tag arcade or a movie after you eat. Just call home at about six and you can stay out until eight. K?"Don said.
"But you just interrogated me. Why would . . . ?"Kyle started.
"Don't make me second guess myself."Don said.
Lauren and Kyle got out of the car as Don's cell phone rang out, it was Liz.
"Hey baby what's up?"Don answered the phone.
"Your daughter Evie, ran away from home to her boyfriend's house."Liz said informing Don of the situation at hand.
"Evie? My Evangeline? Wait. Did you say boyfriend . . . ?"
