Z is for Zebra cakes

Amita could not believe that Charlie had jumped into the tiger cage. After all, Charlie had done a lot of risky things before, most of which involving Don and the FBI, but Amita had never, ever thought that Charlie would go jump in a tiger cage for the sake of solving an FBI case.
It scared the hell out of her. How could one with so much intelligence lack so much common sense?
She was collapsed on the floor in Charlie’s office, waiting for him to come back from his class, and so worn and stressed out that she didn’t notice Charlie come in and sit down beside her.
“I brought you something,” he said shyly, breaking her reverie. Amita sat up groggily, and was surprised when Charlie handed her a package of Zebra cakes and a little carton of milk.
“This is my way of saying that I will not be climbing in any more tiger cages any more. I know I freaked you out, and I’m sorry.”
Amita smiled as she unwrapped her pack of snack cakes. “That’s okay, Charlie, I know you didn’t do it to freak me out. It just scares me that you would actually jump into a tiger cage for the sake of work. It’s just not worth it, Charlie, it’s only a job.”
Charlie smiled ruefully. “Yeah, even Don read me the riot act. He said that if I was going to go that crazy about a stupid case, he won’t be needing me that much from now on. And this is coming from the man who keeps an extra suit in his car when he’s stuck overnight at the office, which happens pretty frequently.”
“You’re not Don, Charlie. You don’t ever have to be Don, and no one expects you to jump in a tiger cage to prove that.” Amita took a bite of her zebra cake. “These are good.”
“I’m glad.” Charlie felt kind of awkward now. “I, uh, won’t be jumping into any tiger cages from now on.”
He was surprised when Amita kissed his cheek tenderly. “Good.”
